'These Tattered Flags'

The National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is currently showing a special exhibit on flags in American history. The temporary exhibition includes flags ranging from a hand-held parade flag sewn by Betsy Ross? granddaughter, to a large, sixteen-foot U.S. Navy Ensign made at the United States Navy Yard in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Other notable inclusions are an Army of Tennessee Battle Flag, loaned by the Pioneer Historical Society and the Borough of Bedford, Pennsylvania, a Know Nothing Flag and a Confederate first national flag.

The exhibit will close at the end of December.
